ICC Women’s Player of the Month nominees for December 2023 announced

Two Indians and a 41-year-old Zimbabwe player have been shortlisted for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for December 2023.

Jemimah Rodrigues (India)

An impressive month for Jemimah Rodrigues saw her shine across formats for India. The right-hander scored half-centuries in India’s Test victories in the month over England and Australia.

In what was her Test debut at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, Jemimah walked in at 47/2 in the first innings and hit a crucial half-century, stitching together a century stand with Satheesh Shubha.

In the Test against Australia, Jemimah once again stepped up with a 73 to aid India’s strong first-innings total.

She then went on to top the run-scoring charts for India in the ODI series against Australia, making scores of 82 and 44 in the first two matches.

Deepti Sharma (India)

Player of the Match in India’s Test win over England, Deepti Sharma was impressive in the two Tests in the month, finishing with 165 runs at a batting average of 55 and 11 wickets at a bowling average of 10.81.

Deepti made 67 from No.7 against England in the Test before taking 5/7 and 4/32 with the ball to finish with nine wickets in the Test. Her five-for in the first innings saw England go from 108/3 to 136 all out.

In the Test against Australia, she again played a big role, taking the wicket of skipper Alyssa Healy and then making 78 with the bat to set up India’s lead.

She then went on to take a five-wicket haul in the second ODI to restrict Australia to 258/8.

In the three T20Is in the month against England, Deepti was economical with the ball, going at a rate of 5.88 runs per over.
